God Is Calling

God Is Calling

Jeremiah 3:19 “But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.”

This is Father’s heart for you. His desire. That we shall not turn away from Him and call Him, My Father! The Bible says in Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.Abba means daddy. That is what a small child calls his / her daddy and trusting him completely.

I also see that Father wants to put us among someone, equating us to someone. Eph 4:11 – 16 describes this: “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

See what God says through the prophet Jeremiah what is hindering this.

Jer 2:5 Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?” Is that what is important to you really important to God or are we chasing after vain things?

Jer 2:7& 8  And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.” How many times have we asked God for His help or provision and when it happens we find ourselves too busy to go back to thank Him. Once I was asked to help with a day of prayer for rain. If it should rain before that day it would be turned into a day of thanksgiving. There was great interest in this BUT then it rained before the day. On the day of thanksgiving there was only three farmers and a couple of other people! God did not receive the thanks from all His people, many were too busy.

Jer 2:11- 13 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.  Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.God says that not even heathen nations turn their backs upon their gods BUT His children turn their backs upon Him, forsaking His living waters, making worthless vessels to provide. God already supplied the water and cisterns but no, we know better!

Jer 2:21 Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?” Many of us start in a noble life being pure before God. Because not searching the scriptures, Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. we err and do not know the power of God. Mar 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?” Let us choose today to start searching through the Bible so that we can stop making mistakes and making wrong decisions. So that we can discern in Christ.

Not knowing the scriptures, we try to justify ourselves, also with God. That is why God asks and answers in Jer 2:29 Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.Plead also means argue in this text. How many times do we argue with God because we are busy with opinions and not with truth. Opinions contaminates us and lead us astray from our true identity. It steals who and what I am. Look at Jer 2:32 Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number. No bride will forget wearing her wedding dress on the day of her wedding. But we forget our bridegroom, Jesus Christ, and living according to His will.

Out of mercy and grace God calls out and we have the choice to listen and do, or not. Listen to His voice and do not harden your heart. Heb 4:7 … To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Jer 3:7 And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not.

Jer 3:14 – 17 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. If we choose to return to Him, He will provide teachers, counsellors and teachers after His own heart. We will start walking on the right ways and not according to our own plans. Have a look again at Jer 3:19, the text that we started with.

Jer 3:22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

“Lord Jesus, today I want to return to You. I acknowledge that I erred and became disobedient, I listened to opinions and not to the Holy Spirit. Please forgive me and lead me through the Holy Spirit back to you. Wit expectation I look toward that what You have planned. Amen.”
