Light in Your Darkest Day

Light in Your Darkest Day

Psalm 139:11& 12 “If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

There are two things we all have in common. One, God loves us; and, two, the devil hates us. God wants only good for us; the devil, only evil. God wants to build us up and bless us; the devil seeks always to tear us down and destroy us. God brings light into our world; the devil, darkness.

But this is no tug-o-war between God and Satan; not even close! For in His great love for us the Lord takes even the foul things which the devil does and turns those to our benefit! In Genesis 50:20, after Joseph was reunited with his family, he tells them: But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. In Romans 8:28 and Ephesians 1:11 Paul assures us that God works all things together for our good.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:”

We cannot lose with the Lord on our side. He gives us light even on our darkest day.

David sang in Psalm 18:28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. Or, in other words, “the LORD will give me a revelation of His love in my darkness.” And, with this in mind, let’s look again at the verse that opens today’s reading: “If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me, Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

How wonderful of the Lord to take all things, even the ill-intentioned devices of darkness, and turn them for our good.

The prophet Micah knew this. Hear his triumphant faith speak above the condemning voices of accusation – Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. A song writer said “Love lifted me!” So when, even in our darkest day, the revelation of God’s love comes shining through, we will say the same!

God loves you; always. Even on your bad days. And He is ever working all things for your good. His purpose – to make you more and more like Jesus….the Light of the World.

“Abba Father, thank you that You are always in control. Thank you that You want all things to work together for my good. Please help me through Your Holy Spirit to fully submit to You. Please change me to the full stature of Your son, JESUS CHRIST. Amen.”
